Among last year's important announcements, Kodakawa hinted at Anime Expo that an original project under the title “Project D” is in the works. The project was introduced as a new original sci-fi TV anime by Steins;Gate’s director Takuya Sato.

Though at that point there were no other titbits shared on Takuya Sato's “Project D,” last Monday, the official website revealed a key visual and a PV for the upcoming anime, titled RErideD: Koku Koe no Derrida (RErideD: Derrida, Who Leaps Through Time). Studio Geektoys in production for the anime which is scheduled to air in Japan in late 2018.

Plot summary:

In the not-so-distant future of 2050, Derrida Yvain, a young engineer develops the “Autonomous Machine DZ” at Rebuild, the manufacturing company founded by his father. During the testing process, Derrida and his co-worker, Nathan finds a dangerous defect in the invention. Though they raise the flaw to the management, the issue gets ignored regardless of the dangers it holds. However the following day on while celebrating Mage's, Nathan's daughter's birthday, the duo gets assaulted by unknown forces. During their chase, Derrida accidentally gets trapped in a hibernation device and falls into cold-sleep for ten years. When he wakes up, he finds the world in a devastated state, where humanity is in a desperate war with the “DZ”s. In this hopeless situation Derrida somehow remembers the promise made between him and his late partner a decade ago, that no matter what, he'll take care Nathan's daughter, Mage. Despite the hopeless situation he's found himself in, Derrida sets off to find Mage.
