Fans of Soma and friends, rejoice! The second cour of Food Wars! Season 3 The Third Plate approaches fast, but there is still room for a new key visual and a teaser video to ease our hunger. The teasers got released on the official website of the anime adaptation, which debuts on the 8th of April, 2018. The anime sequel is produced by J.C. Staff and the staff and cast from the first two seasons return for the arc. Luck Life is performing the new opening theme song “Symbol', while Fo’xTails is delivering the new ending song.
Yukihira Soma has been in the kitchen all his life as he was helping out his father at their family's dinner restaurant from an early age. To satisfy his father's wish of learning the secrets of culinary, he enters the elite cooking school, Tōtsuki Tea Ceremony and Cooking Academy (Tōtsuki Culinary Academy in short). During his first year of studies, Soma has met other promising young chefs and rigorous mentors. He also started to discover how much more lies in culinary and cooking than he has first thought and starts to work towards his goal of creating his signature style and dishes that elevates him to the top of the world of culinary. At Tōtsuki, the students have to overcome various challenges, like helping out at actual restaurants, or reproducing their mentors' dishes perfectly. Through these exercises, Soma was able to break through his old self and create signature dishes.
The manga began as a one-shot in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump in April 2012 and then started as a series in November 2012. The first tankōbon volume was published on the 4th of April, 2013. Studio J.C. Staff has already produced two anime seasons of Shokugeki no Souma. The first season aired in the Spring of 2015 for a total of 24 episodes and the second in the of Summer 2016 for 13 episodes. The first installment third season referred to as 'the first cour of Food Wars! The Third Plate' aired from the 4th of October, 2017.
