New ‘Legend of the Galactic Heroes’ Anime Gets Released in April 2018

As Production I.G. announced, the long-awaited ‘The Legend of the Galactic Heroes’ anime gets released on the 3rd of April.

The first season will run for 12 episodes with the title ‘The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: The New Thesis: Star-Crossed’ and then is going to be followed by a series of 3 movies titled as Stellar War a year after the anime series release.

The anime is centered around a large scale interstellar war between the Free Planets Alliance and the Galactic Empire. The story focuses on the protagonists Reinhard von Lohengramm and Yang Wen-Ii, as they rise to fame in the Galactic Empire and Free Planets Alliance respectively. Of course being in opposing fractions the two characters become rivals, and therefore their clash is inevitable.

The staff behind ‘The Legend of the Galactic Heroes’ is the same one that produced Kuroko no Basket. In the past, there was already a 110 episode OVA series on the saga, which ran from 1987 to 1997.
