Japanese animation is loved in its home country and also became well known overseas in the last three decades. Anime art is meticulous and distinctive that combines traditional graphic art techniques with high-level cinematography that even Hollywood movies get inspired by. The industry has hundreds of production studios, and most of them are well-known and respected by fans of the genre, including Production I.G., Bones, Studio Ghibli and Toei Animation. To celebrate a 100 years of anime history, NHK has released a list of the 100 Best Anime based on their audience’s votes on the most popular titles that aired until September 2016.
