Saga of Tanya the Evil (Youjo Senki) has got a trailer released recently. Yutaka Uemura, director of the anime adaptation, hinted that it was not planned to release a Youjo Senki movie and that fans’ support was the decision-maker in actually making it happen. The movie’s setting is going to be based on Christopher Nolan’s well-revered World War II movie, Dunkirk.
Though we don’t know much about the plot of the movie, Uemura told in an interview to Newtype Magazine that it is going to focus a lot on character development, the connection between the members of the troops and Tanya’s relationship towards her superiors.
The isekai drama revolves around Tanya, a greedy salaryman who gets reincarnated as a girl and needs to suffer punishment by facing the horrors of war. Though this punishment should serve as a lifetime lesson, Tanya has taken his former behavior with herself, and instead of changing, she aims to give the favor back to the being that set her on this trial.
